Whoopi Goldberg had a message for fans who’ve been praying for her speedy recovery and return to The View after the 63-year-old was diagnosed with pneumonia: I’m OK.
The View shared a video message from Goldberg Friday, who thanked fans for their support. She also disclosed that she came very close to “leaving this Earth” while battling the vicious infection.
“I am OK. I’m not dead,” Goldberg said on the video. “I had pneumonia, and I was septic. And yes, I came very, very close to leaving the Earth. Good news, I didn’t. Thank you for all of your good wishes.”
While her condition could have been deadly, the EGOT-winning comedian still managed to make a joke.
“Even people who are not huge fans of mine have actually said nice things about me,” the comedian said. “We all know that’s going to change when I get back, but for right now, it’s brilliant!”
Goldberg, who’s been absent from The View since February 5, didn’t give a date when she’ll be returning to the popular daytime show, though she hinted that it may be “soon.”
“Ladies, I cannot wait to see you all, and I’ll tell you all about it when we’re all at the table,” she said at the close of the video.
We wish Whoopi a speedy and safe recovery!
