Will and Jaden Smith appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show recently and cleared up those pesky rumors that Jaden’s seeking emancipation from his parents, reports E! News.
According to Jaden, 14, he’d be crazy to leave home. He’s living for free!
“See, here’s the thing,” said Jaden. “I’m not going anywhere. The thing that people don’t get is everything at his house is free. I can get anything and everything at his house, so I’m going to be there for 20, 30 years. He says as soon as I have a movie that’s bigger than one of his movies, I can get my own house.”
Will said those rumors may have originated from a comment he made in Tokyo. “I mean, my baby boy, he’s never leaving me, ever,” he told DeGeneres. “No emancipation for the Smith kids.”
In a recent interview with New York’s Metro newspaper, the duo, and stars of After Earth, discussed freedom in the Smith household. Will says he’s willing to give Jaden as much freedom “if he’s willing to accept responsibility.” He followed up, “Those are two concepts that are inexorably bound.”
