Late last night, Will Smith took to his Facebook page to officially offer a statement about his good friend and fellow Fresh Prince of Bel Air actor the late James Avery.
Smith, who has been on vacation in Dubai over the holidays, says Avery taught him much during their friendship.

“Some of my greatest lessons in acting, living and being a respectable human being came through James Avery,” Smith wrote. “Every young man needs an Uncle Phil. Rest in Peace.”
Avery’s TV wife, Janet Hubert who played Vivian Banks, released a statement last week saying acting with Avery was like a “great doubles match.”
Avery died on December 31st in Glendale, California due to complications from open heart surgery. He was 68.
