If you aren’t following Will Smith on Instagram and YouTube, what are you really doing with your free time?
Since joining social media last year, the rapper turned actor turned biggest movie star in the world has used the platform to connect with fans, dispense awesome advice about life and love, and get his creative mojo back. Though Smith has barely left our screens since The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air signed off back in 1996, it’s been a minute since he picked up the mic and dropped a full album. One reason? Smith just felt burned out.
“At my peak, I was doing a television show, a movie, and an album every year,” he explained in a recent video on his YouTube channel. “It was like just churning out that kind of creativity [and] what happens is you get to a point where you get empty.”
Smith’s foray into social media has seemed to reignite his passion to create, and he stepped into the booth to drop a hot teaser track to let the world know the Fresh Prince has returned.
In the clip, Smith raps about everything from his hectic schedule, masiv net worth, inspirational advice, and his relationship with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. While gossip rags seem to always talk about the couple’s impending demise, Smith puts that chatter to rest, rapping, “20 years of swag ya’ll just witnessed/stop the divorce rumors and mind ya’ll damn business.”
It’s been more than a decade since Smith released his last album, Lost & Found, but judging from this latest video, it looks like the Fresh Prince hasn’t lost a step.
