Fans got a few of their burning questions answered on Thursday, when the ladies of Xscape stopped by ESSENCE for a very special live interview.
Tiny Harris, Kandi Burruss, Tamika Scott, and LaTocha Scott, the four women behind the iconic group, dished on their upcoming tour, fan reactions to their reunion, and what it’s like reuniting after all these years.
It’s been 18 years since the ladies performed together, but their chemistry hasn’t changed.
“I would say the musical chemisty came like that,” Tamika said during the Q&A. “That came instantly.”
And, it’s pretty evident that the group hasn’t lost its magic. They gave fans a little taste of what they could expect on tour, flawlessly singing “Is My Living In Vain?’
The ladies also shared an update on their upcoming biopic.
There are currently two in the works: TV One’s unauthorized version, which the ladies previously called “disrespectful and disappointing.” And, the authorized project they’ve teamed up with Mona Scott-Young to create.
“We’re about to go into the phase of dealing with the writer to figure out the script,” Kandi told ESSENCE. “So, it’s actually happening.”
Tiny added that the biopic will cover Xscape’s entire career “from the start to now” with Tocha hinting that we can expect to see it sometime next year.
The ladies kick off their reunion tour, “The Great Xscape Tour,” Nov. 22.
Their reality special, Xscape: Still Kickin’ It, which takes fans behind-the-scenes of it all, premieres Nov. 5. on BRAVO.
