Florence Griffith Joyner, famously known as Flo Jo, has had our hearts since she first stepped on the track. The sprinter and Olympian was known for her colorful ensembles, catsuits, and, of course, her long flamboyant nails that couldn’t even stop her from being dubbed one of the fastest women alive.
She was an inspiration to all and often the new Olympian Sha’Carri Richardson is compared to the Los Angeles native with her spin on long nails and extravagance on the track. Flo Jo’s most famous look was an all-white ensemble at the 1988 Olympic trials. She ran in a beautifully constructed outfit of a white bodysuit covered in lace layered over a running bra and white bottoms. She went on to serve many more stylish and vibrant looks in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. However, this look marked the beginning of history just at the trials unbeknownst to her, she’d won three Olympic gold medals.
In the spirit of the 2024 Olympics in Paris currently happening, we went down memory lane and reminisced on Flo Jo’s all-white look from the 1988 Olympic Trials in Indianapolis and thought of the pieces we’d use to recreate it.
