Actress Countess Vaughn graced our screens during the runs of Moesha and performed so well with a cult fan base that she got a spin-off show, The Parkers. She showcased her eclectic style on both shows filled with vibrance, interesting silhouettes, and faux fur-trimmed sweaters and printed jackets. These looks became engraved in our minds.
What we loved most about Vaughn’s looks is that the costume designer for both sitcoms, Yolanda Braddy and she didn’t limit the risk-taking of her outfits as a plus-sized actress. There was one episode in particular on Moesha where Vaughn’s character wore a sheer Jean Paul Gaultier long-sleeve top. Separately, at an event in The Parkers, Vaughn wore an all-black outfit, unlike her usual color garb, but it intrigued us. Braddy showcased her styling skills by utilizing textures and shapes to make her monochromatic outfit interesting–and Vaughn was the ideal muse.
Her knit top may be too hot for the impending heat, but we have other lightweight options for you to pick from. Vaughn’s straight-leg black pants stopping about her heeled boots worn with her cropped backless top had us ready for summer fashion. She added a chain link strap black leather bag with additional metal rings at the bottom of it—an accessory that looks like it was made today. Vaughn is a woman who loved the ‘90s and Y2K fashion scene just as much as we did.

This Reformation backless top is reminiscent of Vaughn’s as it shows some skin in a put-together way.
