Today is National Margarita Day! Nothing is better than creating a craft margarita after a long, trying day. And what better way to celebrate today than enjoying one with help from a Black-owned spirits brand?
A traditional margarita cocktail consists of tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. You can include simple syrup with salt or sugar on the rim, depending on your mood. The cocktail can be served shaken with ice (on the rocks), without ice (straight up), or blended with ice (who doesn’t love a frozen margarita?). Whatever your preference, margaritas are known as the world’s most popular tequila-based cocktail.
To help you celebrate today, we have selected several Black-owned tequila brands to lift your spirits (literally) and make your margarita delicious. We know our favorite Black-owned brands brands will have you on your way to celebrate National Margarita Day right. Cheers!

Nayana Ferguson launched the brand with her husband, Don Ferguson, and co-founder Mike Rowold in 2018. Tequila is a personal favorite for Ferguson, as she’s a pancreatic and breast cancer survivor and needs to watch what she’s putting into her body. For her, tequila is a spirit she can drink that’s lower in sugar and doesn’t have many aftereffects. Try their Anteel Coconut Lime Blanco Tequila.
Available atThis brand is the brainchild of some of professional basketball’s biggest owners. In 2016, NBA legend and Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan had dinner with Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss, Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Wes Edens, Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck and his wife, Emilia Fazzalari. Although different, they share a love of tequila that led them to launch Cincoro. Try their Cincoro Tequila Blanco.
