This year Target is kicking off Black History Month by honoring Black business owners and creators for its eighth consecutive year. They’re elevating the voices of Black artists, creators, entrepreneurs, team members, and communities through authentic storytelling, content, and products that honor the cultural influence and intersectionality of the Black community with the 2023 Black Beyond Measure campaign and collection.
“This year, our expanded partnerships with business owners and creators have allowed us to develop a product collection made 100% for us and by us, celebrating Black culture and joy,” says Pamela Krominga, Director of Multicultural Merchandising. “We’ve already seen an incredible response from our guests, and we are proud to continue supporting and uplifting the people responsible for bringing this collection to life in such an authentic way.”
This year’s collection is now available online and in stores and features new categories within the home and wellness space. The lifestyle products highlight Black artists like Schentell Nunn, whose pieces include an incense holder and other ceramics to bring joy and love into the home. Rayo & Honey, founded by Roachele Negron, has pieces that transform poetry and Black pop-culture references into modern affirmations integrated onto home décor. DomoINK, founded by Domonique Brown, celebrates diversity through empowered art and décor, including a paint-by-number art kit. And lastly, graphic designer Blu Moody, whose products center around the theme of the power of being your authentic self, include a “My Voice My Power” ruled journal.
Additionally, Target is continuing its Black Beyond Measure digital hub, which allows Target to uplift Black entrepreneurs by helping guests shop for products from Black-owned and founded brands. Even more wellness brands and products can be found there during Black History Month and at any other time of the year, including G.L.A.M. Body Scrubs, GlowRx Skincare, ROSEN Skincare, Curls, Freres Branchiaux, and more.
Target is expanding its partnerships with Black-owned businesses and HBCUs to co-create exclusive products and designs, celebrating Black culture and joy during Black History Month and year-round. These investments support Target’s Racial Equity Action and Change (REACH) commitments to create an environment where Black guests feel welcomed and represented at Target stores.
