Ayesha Curry, the 28-year-old wife to NBA superstar Stephen Curry, has established herself as a powerhouse in her own right.
Curry, the doting mother to daughters Riley, 4, and Ryan, who will turn two in July, has turned her love for cooking and entertaining friends and family into a culinary empire.
The Canadian-born, Charlotte, North Carolina raised chef is the host of a Food Network show, Ayesha’s Home Kitchen, which is now in the second season, where she cooks easy, delicious meals for guests from, as the show’s name suggests, her home kitchen.
She is also the author of a cookbook, The Seasoned Life: Food, Family, Faith, and the Joy of Eating Well, where she shares simple, convenient recipes that can go from stovetop to table in no time.
“My goal is to simplify things, so people want to get in the kitchen and prepare a meal for their family and have time to sit at the table and talk to each other,” Curry told ESSENCE.com before the launch of the cookbook last year. “I feel like that’s a dying thing these days, people gathering around the table at home. I’m trying to keep it alive through the show and my book.”
Family is important to Curry, who grew up with four siblings, and you see that in her other food venture, Homemade, a food delivery service. What sets it apart is that it caters to the whole family.
If all of these achievements are not enough to dub her a food superstar, Curry is taking things further with the announcement in May that she would be opening her first restaurant, International Smoke, in San Fransisco’s Millennium Mile.
“I can’t scream loud enough how grateful and humbled I am by this blessing! Thank you, Jesus! It’s been so hard to keep this to myself and I’m so happy to finally share the news,” she posted on Instagram.
Curry and her partner, chef Michael Mina, did a practice run last year with a pop-up restaurant by the same name in San Fransisco. After the success of the pop-up, the pair decided to make the dream permanent with the flagship grilled and smoked meats spot, set to open at the end of Summer.
The social media maven revealed earlier this year that she is now working on a new cookware and kitchenware collection.
