Black Panther premiered around the world this weekend, and Africans made sure they did not disappoint when it opened in their indvidual countries.
The Marvel blockbuster’s first Africa premiere was on Tuesday in Kisumu, Kenya. Though it is only Kenya’s third largest city, Kisumu is the home of actress Lupita Nyongo. Kisumu county is lead by Lupita’s father, Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, who arranged for the first African screening of Black Panther to take place in Western Kenya, Buzzfeed reports.
Lupita did not appear for that opening, but she was spotted alongside Danai Gurira at the movie’s premiere in Johannesburg, South Africa on Friday.
