Taking excellent care of your body while leading a busy lifestyle can be a challenge no matter who you are or what you do for a living, but more and more people are finding that a plant-based diet makes all the difference.
Among the latest to join #TeamVegan is none other than R&B singer/songwriter, Ne-Yo. Speaking with media in the 2018 ESSENCE Festival press room, the Grammy Award-winning entertainer shared that a tendinitis diagnosis led him to make a drastic change in his eating habits.
“It was to the point where I couldn’t even bend my legs after rehearsals,” he said.
But changing his diet wasn’t exactly easy. Given his southern upbringing, Ne-Yo admitted that cutting out pork, specifically, wasn’t something he’d imagined.
“I’m from the south,” he added. “I’m from Arkansas so, me and pork been a long time. Me and bacon….bacon been my homie.”
However, after a little coaxing from a friend who reassured him that a plant-based diet would reverse the effects of tendinitis, he knew he needed to make the change. Within 2 weeks of going vegan, his tendinitis had cleared up completely, in addition to other improvements, like clearer skin and weight loss.
For the proud father and husband, it was the right decision to make.
“I’ve been vegan for about a year now,” he said. “I know it’s not for everybody but, it works just fine for me!”
