Shonda Rhimes has earned lots of clout on ABC and now the network has picked up yet another one of her buzzy dramas, How to Get Away With Murder.
The suspense-driven legal series stars Viola Davis and is set around a mysterious criminal defense professor who finds herself wrapped in a murder plot alongside four of her law students.
The new series is the second consecutive drama in which Rhimes has placed an African-American actress in the leading role.
How to Get Away With Murder is the third Rhimes produced series ordered by ABC. The drama follows behind Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, which are both scheduled to return in the new 2014/15 television season kicking off this fall.
