Alicia Keys has been tapped again to host this next year’s Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
The 15-time Grammy Award-winning singer announced the news in a hilarious video in which she talks to herself, asking herself, “How you gon’ start the show?…Are you gon’ come up from the smoke? You know what you need? A horse!”
In the video, Keys notes that the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards will take place Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020—just one day after her 39th birthday. It’ll be held inside Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center and will be broadcast live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
“At first I did think last year was a one-time thing, but when the opportunity came back around there was no question about returning as host of the Grammy Awards,” she said in a statement. “Last year was such a powerful experience for me. Not only did I feel the love in the room, but I felt it from around the world and it confirmed the healing and unifying power of music.”
If you remember last year, Keys opened the Grammy Awards with a bang. Her opening monologue included help from none other than our forever first lady Michelle Obama and Jada Pinkett Smith.
She also showed off her amazing piano skills by simultaneously playing two pianos in tribute to pianist Hazel Scott.
We can’t wait to see what the ESSENCE cover girl thinks of for next year!
