The long-awaited Aretha Franklin concert documentary, Amazing Grace, is finally being released.
Recorded and filmed in 1972, the doc features Franklin’s incredible performances at New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles.
Franklin’s niece and the personal representative of the Aretha Franklin Estate, Sabrina Owens, said in a statement, “Amazing Grace is the heart and soul of Aretha Franklin. This film is authentic and is my aunt at her core. She was a daughter of the church, she loved gospel music, and she always incorporated some form of sacred music in her concerts.”
The film will premiere Monday in New York at the 2018 DOC NYC, a documentary film festival.
