Ava DuVernay’s highly anticipated Central Park Five already has a star-studded cast, and now the limited series is beefing things up even more with a few more recognizable names.
Niecy Nash, Kylie Bunbury, Aunjanue Ellis, Marsha Stephanie Blake and A Wrinkle in Time’s Storm Reid are joining the cast of the DuVernay project, centered on the infamous case of five Black teenagers wrongfully convicted of raping a woman in Central Park. The actresses will join previously announced stars Michael K. Williams, Jharrel Jerome and John Leguizamo.
Variety reports that Nash will play Delores Wise, the mother of Korey Wise; Reid will portray Lisa, a friend of Wise’s; Bunbury will take on the role of Angie Richardson, the sister of Kevin Richardson; and Ellis and Blake will play Sharone Salaam and Linda McCray, respectively.
DuVernay will write, direct and executive-produce the four-part limited series for Netflix. The program is expected to premiere next year.
