It was announced in 2015 that RZA and Azealia Banks would be teaming up for a new film, Love Beats Rhymes. Now, the trailer for the movie has dropped.
Banks plays Coco in the upcoming film, which follows an aspiring rapper working to build credibility and hone her craft. Jill Scott, Common, and Lorraine Toussaint also star.
It’s unclear if the stars of the film will do any press as there still might be drama between RZA and Azealia Banks.
Last year, the pair fell out after Banks claimed that actor Russell Crowe had assaulted her in his Beverly Hills suite during a party, calling her the n-word and choking and spitting on her. RZA, however, claimed that Banks began “insulting half the room” and became “loud and obnoxious” threatening to cut a girl before trying to physically attack her.
However, the Wu-Tang Clan member did describe working with Banks on Love Beats Rhymes as professional, saying things ran smoothly during filming. So, maybe the two can patch things for a minute focus on doing press for the film.
