Even though showrunner Mara Brock Akil has moved on to other projects, Being Mary Jane continues on. The Gabrielle Union-led drama has been renewed for its fourth season.
Union (Mary Jane Paul) made the announcement this morning at the Telvision Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, California, reports Deadline.

Stephen Hill, BET’s president of programming, added that the new season would begin production in Atlanta this summer.
The hit series chronicling the life and career of Mary Jane Paul has been a favorite amongst viewers ever since its 2013 premiere.
In August, Akil announced she and her husband Salim Akil (a director and the show’s executive producer) would exit from the show after inking an overall deal with Warner Bros. A new showrunner has not been named.
Season 3 of the show ended in December.
