As the BeyHive and Internet continue to recuperate from Beyoncé’s mind-blowing, Blackity-Black historic performance at “Beychella,” there’s been one looming question many viewers have been left to ruminate over: How much did the superstar singer get paid for appearing at the music festival?
Lucky for us, Money has crunched the numbers on how much the “Formation” singer possibly pocketed from the unprecedented two-hour performance, and it’s likely she was paid between 3 to 4 million dollars.
Reading that aloud may sound like a lot. But Beyoncé, on average, raked in nearly $5.2 million per night for the Formation World Tour in 2016. And, judging by the elaborate staging and production, as well as the hundreds of dancers and band members backing the entertainer, we’re guessing Beyoncé probably spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to bring the show she envisioned while pregnant to life in front of 100,000-plus festival-goers.
While festival organizers haven’t confirmed the exact amount Beyoncé earned, Rolling Stone reported in 2016 that festivals have paid musical acts “upward of $7 million per set.”
Of course, other Coachella performers won’t rake up nearly as much, with Cardi B sharing during a SiriusXM radio interview that she would earn $70,00 for each of the two weekends she performs(the deal was brokered before her album made its record-breaking debut). That figure ordinarily would be impressive for the newcomer, but she reportedly spent more than that on her set design.
“I have to invest so much money on my stage set—my own money that I gotta go to Wells Fargo and write a check,” Cardi B said. “That is crazy, like almost 300 thou [$300,000].”
Whatever her exact earnings, Beyoncé is already putting her hard-earned money where her mouth is. In conjunction with the BeyGood initiative, the singer announced on Monday that she will be donating $100,000 in scholarships to four historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
