The director behind the highly-anticipated live-action remake of The Lion King is reportedly eyeing a major star to take on the role of Nala.
According to Variety, the film’s director, Jon Favreau, is hoping to cast Beyoncé as Nala, the childhood best friend and eventual wife of Donald Glover’s Simba.
Reportedly, Beyoncé hasn’t made a decision about the role, which makes sense since she’s preparing to give birth to twins. However, the director and producers have allegedly stated that they will do whatever it take to accommodate her schedule, especially since it’s just a voice-acting role.

This wouldn’t be the first voice-acting role for Queen Bey. The “Formation” singer voiced Queen Tara in 2013’s Epic. She also voiced Shine during the Nickelodeon run of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, a children’s educational animated series.
The Lion King is one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time and with Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, and possibly Beyoncé attached to the live-action remake, we can see the upcoming film being just as big.
