It’s joker’s wild with the new trailer for DC Comics’ latest cinematic offering after Warner Bros. released the new trailer for Joker.
Joker will tell the story of how failed stand-up comedian character, Arthur Fleck, became the menacing, psychopathic Joker in a 1980s-styled Gotham City. The Joker is highly regarded as the most famous villain in comic book history.
The gritty collage of scenes used in the trailer offer glimpses of Joker’s backstory and also highlight some of the film’s co-stars. Starring Joaquin Phoenix as Batman’s arch-nemesis, the film also features our faves Zazie Beetz and Bryan Tyree Henry.
Beetz who starred in Deadpool 2, and is also known for her work on Donald Glover’s Atlanta, portrays Sophia Dumond in Joker. Her character has been described as “a single mother who catches the interest of the man who will become the Clown Prince of Crime.”
And there’s no telling what Tyree, who’s mostly known for his role as struggling rapper, Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles, in FX’s acclaimed drama Atlanta, will play in the film, but fans are still excited. In fact, before Wednesday’s trailer, no one knew he was actually in the movie.
It appears that Sharon Washington, an acclaimed theater veteran, portrays what seems to be a psychiatrist. It should be pivotal since Phoenix’s character is said to be a psychological study of one man’s descent into madness and crime.
Joker is scheduled to hit theaters on October 4.
