Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” is the number one song in the country!
The single, originally released in 2017, is featured on the singer’s third studio album Cuz I Love You. The track debuted on the Hot 100 chart at No. 50, steadily moving up the chart before taking the top spot.
Lizzo joins a handful of Black women, including Beyoncé, Rihanna and Cardi B, who have landed the top spot on the chart.
The singer tweeted the news Tuesday along with a thank you to her fans.
“We’re number 1. This is a W for all of us. Anybody who ever felt like they voice wasn’t heard. Anybody who felt like they weren’t good enough. You are. We are. Champions. I love yall 3 much. Lizzbians unite.”
The singer also received praise from rapper Cardi B, whose “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It” went number one in 2018.
“The fact that Lizzo a couple months ago felt underestimated and now she have a #1!!!!BITCH! take that!take that ! Makes me emotional,” Cardi tweeted. “It’s the best feeling in the world.”
