• Pain and Gain stars Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg will star in a new HBO dramedy pilot. The untiled show will follow retired athletes living in Miami and is scheduled to begin shooting this fall. The project comes from Entourage‘s Stephen Levinson and will be produced by Johnson, Wahlberg, Dany Garcia and Peter Berg. There’s no word on when the show will begin airing if it’s picked up. • Last night’s episode of American Idol was a nail-biter! After an emotional hour of television, Texas native Amber Holcomb was eliminated from the competition. Candice Glover, Angie Miller and Kree Harrison will move on to the next level. Next week’s episode will not only feature another round of fresh performances, but it will also feature the contestants going home to visit their hometowns.
• Could Whoopi Goldberg be trying her hand in the restaurant business soon? The legendary actress and comedian took a detailed tour of New York’s Delmonico’s restaurant recently. “She was in a great mood,” said a witness. “After her tour, Whoopi posed for photos with the staff. She even went into the kitchen to pose with the sous chefs.” After exploring the inner-workings of the restaurant, Goldberg dinned like a queen feasting on steak, boneless rib eye, lobster and more. • Steve Harvey is set to pay tribute to all the moms in America next week on his daytime talk show. In a special preview clip, Harvey musters up the strength to honor his own mother, who passed away 16 years ago. Moved to tears, he told the audience, “You know, when they asked me to do this, I said I’d take a shot at it. It’s a difficult thing for me.” Check out this preview clip below:
