The pair will kick of the “On The Run” tour in Miami in June, stopping in at least 13 cities including Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Toronto and wrapping up August 5 in San Francisco. Larenz Tate has been cast as a regular on USA’s original medical drama Rush. The series, set to premiere July 17 follows Dr. Williams Rush, a “medical fixer” who privately caters to LA’s elite. Tate will play Dr. Alex Thomas, a high-ranking physician at one of Los Angeles’s top hospitals and best friend to Dr. Rush. [Deadline]
Torrei Hart, ex-wife of comedian Kevin Hart, opened up to Sister 2 Sister magazine about their painful divorce, and working on their post-marriage relationship. Hart explained that though the breakup was painful, she took time to heal, something she believes that Kevin never did. She also opened up about her feelings about Hart’s girlfriend Eniko Parrish who he often refers to as his “rib”, saying that “It’s easy to be somebody’s rib when you’re a millionaire.” She says that ultimately their relationship has become closer and that they’re “working through stuff.” [S2SMagazine]
DJ E-Z Rock, real name Rodney Bryce, died Sunday. The hip hop artist who recorded the late ’80s hits, “It Takes Two” and “Joy and Pain,” alongside Rob Base was 46- years-old. The cause of his death is yet to be revealed. Fellow hip-hop artists including Biz Markie, DJ Red Alert and Rob Base have taken to social media to offer their condolences. [Billboard]
Ellen DeGeneres has stepped in to help Akintunde Ahmad, the Oakland teen with a 5.0 GPA and 2100 SAT score who was accepted to multiple Ivy League schools. DeGeneres invited Ahmad and his family on her show, where he revealed that he planned on attending Yale in the fall. She presented him with a $15,000 check to help with tuition and expenses.
