Happy Monday. Here’s what we’re talking about over our coffee this morning:
The Super Bowl is over and the NBA Celebrity All-Star game is right around the corner! Celebrity players and coaches have yet to be announced but we do know that actress Actress-singer Keke Palmer will sing the National Anthem before the Celebrity All-Star Game, airing live on ESPN on February 13.
Talk show host Steve Harvey is teaming up with Coca-Cola to launch the “Pay It Forward” campaign to help the next generation’s young Black leaders. “We want to improve, enrich, uplift and inspire young people,” Harvey said. Young people between 12 and 21 can be nominated by parents or teachers to win a $5,000 scholarship and a chance to work with Harvey on one of his entertainment platforms. [Black Enterprise]
Professional tennis player Madison Keys is ranked as one of the best Black female tennis players in the world, right next to Venus and Serena Williams. However, this champion tennis player, who is bi-racial, would rather not be labeled by her race. “I don’t really think of it. I don’t really identify myself as white or African-American. I’m just me. I’m Madison,” she said. [Clutch]
