Shonda Rhimes-produced Grey’s Anatomy as well as pilot How To Get Away With Murder have been picked up as well. Also coming back for another round is Omar Epps lead series Resurrection. [Deadline]
Actress/singer Zendaya is set to star in the Disney Channel’s new family comedy series, K.C. Undercover. The sitcom follows a high school math genius that is training to be an undercover spy. For Colored Girls actress Tessa Thompson has been cast as Diane Nash in the Ava DuVernay-directed Selma. DuVernay posted a picture on her Instagram of Thompson on Thursday, welcoming her to the cast. Thompson joins Ledisi, Lorraine Toussaint, Carmen Ejogo and David Oyelowo in the cast of the Martin Luther King Jr. biopic. [Instgram]
Spike Lee is teaming up with Katt Williams to direct his next HBO comedy special. HBO programming President Michael Lombardo revealed that Spike will direct and hour-long special on May 17 in Ontario, Canada. Fans can expect the follow-up to William’s Pimp Chronicles to debut later this year. [Vibe]
Columbus Short could be facing more legal troubles. Following a bar fight in March, the former Scandal star made an agreement with the alleged victim to settle outside of court. Short has reportedly backed out of the deal, citing financial woes due to his recent departure from Scandal. The man is now said to be hitting Short with a lawsuit to cover medical expenses. [TMZ]
