Make sure your Netflix membership is fully renewed and active because a new series based on Justin Simien’s hit film Dear White People is coming soon!
The 10-episode comedy series is slated for a 2017 debut which will draw inspiration from the 2014 satirical movie.
Just to refresh your memory, Dear White People took place on a fictional Ivy League campus and explored the racial tensions that exist among students that are often upheld by university officials.

Simien has been tapped to write and direct the first episode of the series but it has not yet been announced if any of the film’s cast –including Teyonah Parris, Tessa Thompson or Tyler James Williams — will be a part of the project.
In a statement, Simien expressed his overwhelming excitement to bring the story to audiences once again.
“During the film’s release, I had the pleasure to speak with hundreds of students and faculty across a variety of college campuses dealing with these very issues in real time. I’m so grateful to have this platform — not only to give a voice to those too often unheard in our culture, but to also tell great stories from new points of views.”
Safe to say we will definitely have this series saved in our queue as a must-see come it’s debut!
