What would you do if Donald Trump called your phone asking for your vote?
Madea answered that question for us earlier this week in a skit on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. And it had us cracking up. With Fallon reprising his role as the Republican presidential nominee, he went back and forth with Tyler Perry’s Madea trying to win her vote. “Ain’t no Black people voting for you Donald, don’t you understand that?” Madea bluntly responded.
And there is little lie there. Many criticized Trump’s sweeping generalizations about black life in America earlier this summer. “You live in your poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs,” he has argued to Black voters. And though he has made attempts to court the Black vote—such as his visit to a Detroit church in September and hiring Omarosa Manigault as his campaign director of African-American outreach—polls show his favorability among African-Americans is close to zero.
