Drake might be getting closer to finishing his tour with the three amigos, but that doesn’t mean the Canadian rapper is stepping back from the spotlight.
According to fan video, during a tour stop in Edmonton, Canada, the 6 God told the screaming crowd that he had plans on getting right back into the recording studio as soon as the tour was done.
“Six shows left,” he began. “I guess most people would go on a vacation, or I don’t know what they do…But I’mma tell you what I’m gonna do.”
“Because I keep having nights like this that remind me why I love my job so much, I promise you that as soon as this tour is over—and maybe I’ll take, like, a little break—I’mma get right to work on a new album, so we can be right back here…and have a new party,” he promised fans.
Reportedly, Drake’s next album could be the first one released without the involvement of Cash Money Records. He even rapped about fulfilling his contract obligations to the turmoil-ridden company in a few bars on this year’s
Scorpion.

Trade publications have speculated that he intends to become an independent artist, or sign a direct deal with a digital service provider like Apple Music or Spotify.
