As if Eddie Murphy wasn’t busy enough, the actor and comedian has announced plans for a stand-up comedy tour in 2020.
During a recent episode of Netflix podcast Present Company With Krista Smith, Murphy revealed he’d be hitting the road: “Next year, in 2020, I’m going to go on the road and do some stand-up.”
This isn’t the first time the comedian has hinted at returning to the stage.
In July, during an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, he told host and friend Jerry Seinfeld that late comedian Don Rickles had encouraged him to get back to stand-up.
“I’m going to do it again,” Murphy said. “Everything just has to be right. You have to get up there and start working it out.”
The 2020 comedy tour would be another major project on Murphy’s jam packed schedule.
The comedian’s next film Dolemite Is My Name, in which he portrays real-life comedian and musician Rudy Ray Moore, will screen at the Toronto Film Festival this weekend; it arrives on Netflix next month. Murphy’s Coming to America sequel Coming 2 America has been generating tons of anticipation from fans, which only underscores what we already knew: give us more Mr. Murphy.
