The
new generation of voices in R&B music are on fire and two of the young queens leading the way are about to heat things up even more.
Fresh off of lighting up New Orleans with their individual ESSENCE Festival debuts last month, R&B darlings
H.E.R. and Ella Mai are prepping new tunes to take over the airwaves.
2018 has certainly been a year to remember for
Ella Mai thus far. Her platinum-selling single “Boo’d Up” became an official summer anthem, a social media phenomenon and a favorite among everyone from fellow artists to her rapidly-increasing loyal fanbase. The song’s music video has even racked up 166 million views and counting on YouTube.
Showing no signs of slowing down, the London-based songstress announced this week that she’ll soon be following up with another new single titled, “Trip.”
Meanwhile, H.E.R. kicked off the year dominating music’s biggest stages from Coachella to the BET Awards with extraordinary performances of music from her critically-acclaimed, self-titled EP. The project garnered public praise from several entertainment icons, including Erykah Badu, Rihanna and
2018 ESSENCE Festival headliner Janet Jackson. Ms. Jackson went out of her way to attend the 21-year-old’s very first sold-out show in London earlier in the year and even took to social media to share a photo of the two taken backstage at the concert, noting that she sang along to “every word” while watching.
Since we all clearly can’t quite seem to get enough of all things H.E.R., the R&B songbird also took to social media this week to announce the release of a new EP to hold fans over as she puts the finishing touches on her forthcoming album. Titled “I Used To Know H.E.R.,” the project is a six-track effort and includes a duet with Bryson Tiller.
Ella Mai’s new single “Trip” and H.E.R.’s new EP I Used To Know H.E.R.” will each be available this Friday. Needless to say, we can’t wait.
