En Vogue is taking fans on a futuristic ride with their new video, “Rocket.”
Set in California’s El Mirage Lake, members Terry Ellis, Rhona Bennett and Cindy Herron glow in their metallic gowns. The song is from En Vogue’s forthcoming album, Electric Cafe —their first project in 14 years.
“It was really exciting shooting the ‘Rocket’ video… perfect theme to enhance the song,” founding member Cindy Herron-Braggs told ESSENCE.
“Rocket” flexes the singers’ harmonies in an uptempo ballad about the adventure of falling in love. Damien Sandoval directed the video and has previously worked with The Dream, Zendaya and Kamaiyah.
“The look is futuristic meets sexy… a step into the future,” said Ellis. Bennett agrees, saying, “It’s such a pleasure working with a director that’s not afraid to come up with a concept that’s outside of the box and pays tribute to the music.”
As we reported in December, the single was produced by Curtis “Sauce” Wilson and the upcoming album will include a guest feature from Snoop Dog, as well as production from Raphael Saadiq.
En Vogue’s Electric Cafe drops on March 30 and they begin their European tour this April with stops in Dublin, London and Hamburg. Keep up with the ladies by going here.
