Neelam Hakeem just dropped the visuals for her empowerment track, “I’ll Be The King,” and she made sure to include a special guest at the end of the song.
In the newly released video, the hijabi emcee brings out a regal Erykah Badu in a special cameo at the end of the song. In the scene, Badu sits on in a literal throne with Hakeem nestled by her knees.
At one point, the Los Angeles-based rapper lays her head on the “Next Lifetime” singer’s lap. The image appears to be an acknowledgment that Neelam is sitting at the knees of other female hip-hop greats, like Badu, who have come before her.
Although Badu has shared video clips of Neelam’s talent to her fans before, the duo first shared a stage during the female cypher at the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards, which aired earlier this month.
With Badu at the turntables, Hakeem freestyled to the beat alongside the likes of Bri Steves, Sharaya J, and Chika.
