Black-ish spin-off Mixed-ish has finally arrived!
The series follows the childhood of black-ish matriarch Rainbow Johnson (Tracee Ellis Ross) as her family adjusts to a new life after leaving a commune.
Created and executive produced by Ross and black-ish creator Kenya Barris, the series premiere Tuesday night and viewers were quick to share their thoughts about the new ABC series.
During her cover shoot with ESSENCE, Ross stated that the show was a “slide backward to Bow Johnson’s childhood.” The actress added that “it’s a little different than the other ishs because it’s not current day.”
Mixed-ish stars Arica Himmel, Tika Sumpter, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Ethan William Childress, Gary Cole and Christina Anthony.
The series also features a theme song from Mariah Carey called “In the Mix.”
