So many artists are gearing up for major fall releases that’s it’s almost hard to keep track.
This week alone we’ve seen new music from Usher, gotten a few more details on Normani’s upcoming debut, and a debut solo project from Migos’ Quavo has just arrived.
And while there are tons of other great artists sharing new music, we’ve rounded up five of our favorite new releases of the week.
1. Ella Mai – “Shot Clock”
On Friday, the singer dropped her self-titled debut album, chockful of songs that feel reminiscent of early-2000s R&B. The album includes features from H.E.R., John Legend, and Chris Brown, but one of our favorite songs on the new album is “Shot Clock.”
2. Bad Bunny ft. Drake – “Mia”
Drake has finally made his Latin transition with a feature on Bad Bunny’s “Mia.” The song sees Drizzy singing in Spanish as he and Bad Bunny enjoy a night-time block party And, this isn’t Drake’s first time singing in Spanish. In 2014, he joined Romeo Santos on “Odio.”3. Esperanza Spalding – “12 Little Spells”
Earlier this week, Esperanza Spalding released “12 Little Spells,” a dazzling song from her new project, 12 Little Spells. The roll-out for the album also sees Spalding releasing a new song, or “spell,” every day for 12 days. Each song is dedicated to a specific part of the body. Spalding says the idea came to her while she was studying Reiki.
4. Kandi Burruss – “Ready for This”
Singer-songwriter and Real Housewives star Kandi Burruss has returned with a seductive new single, “Ready for This.” The new song follows “Fake People,” which was released earlier this year. Burruss told Billboard, “I’ve been away from the music scene for a long time as a solo artist and wanted to come with something different. I collaborated with a new team and together we created a whole new sound that I’m in love with!”
5. Pell – “Simple and Plain”
And, we couldn’t leave Pell off the list. The rapper teamed up with producer Imad Royal for “Simple and Plain,” a soulful song about love and the many feelings that come along with it.
