Actress Garcelle Beauvais will be returning to play her iconic role in the upcoming Coming 2 America, joining an already star-studded cast.
She will be joined by South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha, who also signed on to the flick right before the movie is set to begin shooting next week.
Beauvais is returning to one of her first-ever roles as a rose petal priestess, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Mbatha, who is known for her famous roles in South African shows Isibaya and Umlilo, will have a yet undefined role.
The actresses will join original cast members like Eddie Murphy, Shari Headley, James Earl Jones, Arsenio Hall, John Amos and Paul Bates.
The plot follows Prince Akeem (Murphy) as he is set to become King of Zamunda but he discovers he has a son he never knew about in America. Akeem and Semmi (Hall) return to America to honor the king’s dying wish to groom his son as the crowned prince.
Coming 2 America has added a number of other actors to their reunion cast lineup, including Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, KiKi Layne, Rick Ross, Teyana Taylor, and comedian Michael Blackson.
Paramount has set a Dec. 18, 2020 release date for the picture.
