R&B music has gotten an infusion of fresh new blood recently, with artists like Daniel Caesar, SZA, and Ella Mai taking over the radio and charting hits. But onee of the biggest new stars pushing the genre forward is Bay Area singer and songwriter, H.E.R. While fans continue to wait for the singer’s first official project, the Vallejo native just dropped a new project that has fans hungry for more. Early Friday morning, H.E.R. released a prelude EP to her upcoming debut called, I Used to Know Her.
With just six songs, the succinct album showcases H.E.R.’s versatile skills as she raps and sings on the project, which also features a super seductive duo with fellow R&B star, Bryson Tiller.
H.E.R. burst on the scene with the 2016 EP, H.E.R. Volume 1, which reached No. 1 on the iTunes R&B chart despite the young singer initially keeping her identity under wraps. As her star began to rise, however, it became difficult for H.E.R. — whose real name is Gabriella Wilson — to remain anonymous. If I Used to Know Her is just the prelude, we can’t wait to hear the main event.
