The Sexiest Man Alive will be stepping into Will Smith’s shoes in the Suicide Squad sequel.
Variety reports that Idris Elba will replace Smith as Deadshot in the follow-up to the 2016 box office hit. Smith was forced to withdraw from his role in the blockbuster franchise due to scheduling conflicts with his other projects.
Based on the DC Comics, Suicide Squad follows a band of imprisoned super-villains, who have been released by a secret government agency to save the world from the apocalypse.
There’s been no word on whether or not the rest of the actors who made up the squad in the original, including The Wolf of Wall Street’s Margot Robbie and Dallas Buyers Club’s Jared Leto, will be returning for part two of the misadventures.
Production on the movie begins in September, and it is slated to be released on Aug. 6, 2021.
We’ll be there with our popcorn waiting on Elba to save the day!
