While Issa Rae’s character on Insecure is getting ghosted, the actress bringing her to life is gearing up for a different romantic adventure.
According to Variety, Rae will star in the upcoming Fox romantic comedy, American Princess. Rae’s character will play an American woman, who relocates to London and ends up embedded in the center of the city’s elite society circles after falling in love in a pretty shocking way.
The film’s script was penned by writer and producer Amy Aniobi, who has collaborated with Rae on Insecure and her breakout web series, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, as a writer and co-executive producer.
It’s being directed by Stella Meghie, who has also worked on Insecure and who directed 2017’s teen drama, Everything, Everything, starring Rae’s The Hate U Give co-star, Amandla Stenberg.
