Four years out of prison, Turk who was an original member of The Hot Boys, claimed he still hadn’t spoken to any of his former rap group members. Sentenced to prison for eight years on a gun charge, the New Orleans-bred talent voiced his upset on social media— a few months after starting a starting a GoFundMe to cover his $5 million in debt.
Aside for the financial woes, in the time he sat behind bars, he’d missed the ascension to stardom that would eventually evolve from Cash Money to successful solo careers for Lil Wayne, Birdman, Mannie Fresh and Juvenile.
In the new episode of Iyanla: Fix My Life, the host sits down with the now 36-year-old to talk about the pain from his past that’s ever-present today. Vanzant is particularly interested in how Turk’s toxic, untrustworthy behavior has affected his wife, Erica.
“I stay inside, nobody can come to my house,” Turk says in the clip. “They can’t step foot in my house. Period. We don’t have those gatherings [Thanksgiving and Christmas] at my house.”
When asked if Erica has a problem with this he responds, “How can she not go along with it?”
To which Vanzant replies, “There’s many ways she can not go along with it, as the woman of the house. She has a voice. Well, maybe you don’t[ turning to Erica]. What I find very interesting is anytime the husband says, ‘This is my house and people can’t set foot in my house.’ If that’s not your desire as the woman of the house, then there’s a problem.”
