According to Variety, the show’s family visits a local car dealership, where they meet White who plays a snarky manager often overshadowed and underappreciated by his frequently absent boss.
Like many other Fresh Off The Boat guest spots White’s casting taps into the nostalgia factor of the show, which tells the ’90s coming of age story of Asian-American celebrity chef Eddie Huang as recounted in his best-selling memoir of the same title.
Previous ’90s cultural icons to guest star on the series include DMX, ice skater Nancy Kerrigan, Connie Chung, and actress Heather Locklear.
This isn’t White’s first attempt at using the memory of the character he immortalized for a laugh. He appeared as a player in a celebrity basketball game on Donald Glover’s Atlanta and will resume the role of Steve Urkel in Scooby-Doo and Guess Who next year.
