Showtime is giving Jamie Foxx‘s White Famous a shot with a pilot order.
The series will focus on a young black comedian’s struggle to win over white audiences without losing credibility. Foxx won’t star in the series, but he will appear in a recurring role.
A New Series Based on the Movie ‘Dear White People’ is Headed to Netflix
The show is being written by Tom Kapinos, the man behind another Showtime hit, Californication, and is based on an idea from Foxx. According to Vulture, Kapinos is pretty excited about the project, saying in a statement that he is “jazzed to be working with the brilliant Jamie Foxx on the creation of another wickedly profane TV antihero.”
This sounds like a pretty interesting series and, honestly, we’d love more Jamie Foxx in our lives.
Here’s to hoping that Showtime loves the pilot enough to give the series the green light.
