After slaying the red carpet in a rainbow-colored #PRIDE ensemble, Janelle Monáe hit the stage at the 2018 BET Awards, performing two of her recent hit songs, “Django Jane” and “I Like That.”
The Dirty Computer singer sat atop a throne outfitted in black, white and red African-inspired garb to deliver a mesmerizing performance of the female empowerment anthem, “Django Jane.”
Surrounded by more than a dozen highly-melanated dancers, dressed in nearly identical outfits, the electric lady rapped about her achievements (“Already got a Oscar for the casa / Runnin’ down / Grammys with the family / Prolly give a Tony to the homies”) and the power of Black women.
Midway through the five-minute performance, the Q.U.E.E.N. switched to her smoother cut, “I Like That,” a song addressing her pansexuality.
Mo-slay gave one of, if not the, best performance of the night according to Twitter.
Janelle Monáe is currently on a tour that kicked off earlier this month and ends in Atlanta.
