For his birthday, Prince fans will get a special gift of their very own. Hip hop industry heavyweights Jay-Z and Troy Carter collaboratively selected a 15-track opus, titled Originals, filled with new and unreleased music from The Purple One.
On June 7, the musical genius’ estate, alongside TIDAL in partnership with Warner Bros. Records, will stream the new album of unreleased songs, which Prince penned or produced for other acts.
Hits like the timeless Sheila E banger “Glamorous Life” and The Time’s funky “Jungle Love” will finally see the light of day. Prince even recorded his own versions of The Bangles’ signature song “Manic Monday” and Apollonia 6’s “Sex Shooter”.
Originals will stream in “master quality” exclusively on Tidal for 14 days. Then on June 21, Warner Bros. will release the recordings, sourced directly from Prince’s archive of “Vault” recordings, via all download and streaming partners, and in a CD format.
We can’t wait!
