The Batman has found its Commissioner Gordon.
Jeffrey Wright will take on the role of Gotham City’s commissioner in Matt Reeves’ upcoming film about the caped crusader.
Reeves confirmed the news with a single Tweet and bat emoji on Thursday, “Tweet! #Gordon.”
Wright joins Zoe Kravitz, who was recently cast as Catwoman, and Robert Pattison, who will play Batman in the new project.
Although the actor stars in HBO’s Westworld and his iconic roles have been cemented—Felix Leiter in the Bond franchise; Peoples Hernandez in 2000’s Shaft; Jean Michel Basquiat in Basquiat, just to name a few—Wright will be the first Black actor to portray Commissioner Gordon.
Plot details for The Batman have yet to be released but the film is expected to arrive June 25, 2021.
