Jessica Williams will be flexing her funny bone across the pond.
Hulu has announced the cast of its upcoming limited television adaption of 1994’s Four Weddings and a Funeral and Williams has snagged one of the project’s leads. The Daily Show alum will play a New York senatorial campaign’s communications director, who receives a wedding invitation from her college classmate, who moved to London after school.
Her character leaves her professional and personal obligations in the states and heads to England where she catches up with old friends, and finds herself in the middle of their personal and political dramas. Amidst all of the bed hopping and scandal exposing that occur during her time there, four weddings–and a funeral take place.
The script for the series’ pilot was written by Mindy Kaling, who will also serve as the project’s executive producer.
William expressed how thrilled she was about booking the role in a caption on Instagram. “So thankful that they cast ya bird (me) in this awesome project,” she wrote.
“Excellent cast @rebeccarittenhouse, @inikeshpatel, @john_p_reynolds & an excellent boss @mindykaling. I am so excited to move across the ol’ pond for a bit! (Lol my Britishisms are a mess it will only get worse from here, bruvs!),” she continued.
Four Weddings and a Funeral is expected to hit Hulu sometime in 2019.
