If you haven’t already checked out the season two trailer of Queen Sugar, then you’re missing out on some real drama.
However, there’s even more news to get excited about as the show adds new faces and an incredibly talented director.
Julie Dash, director of Daughters of the Dust, will helm a few episodes in the upcoming season along with a number of other female directors. The show is sticking to its wonderful plan of having an all-female directorial team with directors handpicked by showrunner Ava DuVernay.
There are new additions to the cast as well. Sharon Lawrence joins the series as the mother of Charley Bordelon, a successful businesswoman who taught Charley to never settle for second best.
Margot Bingham will play Tamar Judith, a pop singer who crosses paths with Davis (Timon Kyle Durrett). And, Alimi Ballard joins as Dr. Robert Dubois, an epidemiologist who makes quite the impression on Nova.
Season two of Queen Sugar premieres Tuesday, June 20 on OWN.
