Almost four years ago, Kandi Burruss swapped vows with her husband, TV producer Todd Tucker, and she’ll be the first to tell you that it’s one of the best decisions she’s ever made.
While keeping it candid with the hosts of ESSENCE’s Yes, Girl! podcast, the Xscape singer and the Real Housewives of Atlanta star revealed what makes their love work.
“We’ve been together for about six years now and this is the longest relationship I’ve ever had,” said Burruss. “I didn’t have a lot of long relationships when I was younger.”
Their secret, admits Burruss, is that they’re better together. “What Ne-Yo said, ‘I’m good all by myself but I’m a force when we’re together,’ I definitely feel like that applies to our relationship,” she shared. “I’ve always felt like I’ve been a go-getter and [I] make things happen, but ever since our marriage, like, I think it has pushed me times 100 thousand.”
Burruss and Tucker met on the set of the Bravo series in 2011, when he worked as a line producer, and since then, the proud parents to son Ace Wells Tucker, 2, and daughters from their previous relationships, Kaela and Riley, have been one dynamic duo.
The 41-year-old credits the success of their union to the fact that they communicate well.
“I [don’t] get bored with him,” Burruss added. “I feel like in other situations I’ve lost interest or maybe they were a cheater, you know. I don’t tolerate cheating. So our communication is all the way on point and I never get tired of talking to him so I think that is what automatically made me be like, ok, I can do this! The sex life is good too!”
The Tuckers will continue to be goals.
