Queen & Slim opens this week, and celebs are coming out in support of the critically-acclaimed film.
The likes of Kelly Rowland, Snoop Dogg, Roxane Gay and Chaka Zulu have decided to buy-out screenings of the film.
In the script written by Waithe and based on an original idea by bestselling author James Frey, ESSENCE November coverstar Jodie Smith-Turner’s Queen plays a defense attorney who goes on a first date with Kaluuya’s character, Slim, before things go awry.
“A must see for the community,” Snoop said on Instagram in an announcement he was buying a screening in Los Angeles. “Joining a movement to buy out theaters on Friday and make sure that everyone can see QUEEN & SLIM.”
Kelly Rowland ended up buying out two screenings in her hometown of Houston in support of the film
“Because it’s a GREAT film, and because it’s made by two incredibly talented WOMEN!” she said.
