As if we weren’t already excited about the release of Black Panther, more news has rolled in about the upcoming film’s soundtrack.
Kendrick Lamar and Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) are set to curate and produce the film’s soundtrack. According to Hip Hop Wired, the DAMN. rapper and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith will work with the film’s director, Ryan Coogler, to create music specific to the film.
“I am honored to be working with such an incredible artist whose work has been so inspirational, and whose artistic themes align with those we explore in the film. I can’t wait for the world to hear what Kendrick and TDE have in store,” Coogler said in a press statement.
The soundtrack’s first single, “All the Stars,” produced by Al Shux and Sounwave has already dropped and features Lamar’s lyrics and SZA’s vocals over a bouncy beat.
Lamar added in a statement: “Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director. The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel’s vision.”
